Recycled crushed concrete

Freeze and thaw place added demand on base work in much of New York, particularly where lake-effect moisture can keep the ground wet. Crushed Concrete forms a dense underlying course for patios, driveways, parking pads, and access roads. It is made from recycled concrete broken into angular fragments along with fine particles, allowing the mix to consolidate rather than remain loose.

Before placing the surface, make sure the prepared ground sheds water rather than holding it against the base. Install Crushed Concrete in manageable courses and compact each course, using light moisture when the material is too dry to settle well. Compaction draws the fines into spaces between larger pieces, and the angular concrete surfaces lock together under use. That structure helps provide support beneath traffic-bearing work through changing seasons. It does not replace a washed stone where free drainage is the goal, such as around drain pipe or in a clean bedding layer. For a more finished driveway appearance, it can be covered with driveway gravel.

Common Uses

Driveways & Parking Areas

For a new driveway or a rebuilt parking area, crushed concrete can form the supporting layer. Place and compact it in lifts to create a firm foundation for traffic, helping limit ruts and potholes. Leave it exposed for the travel surface, or add driveway gravel over it for a more finished appearance.

Road Base & Access Roads

For private roads, farm lanes, equipment yards, and construction-site entries, install crushed concrete as a base layer. It carries heavy trucks and machinery and provides a usable surface in wet weather after rain.

Patio, Walkway & Pad Sub-Base

A compacted crushed-concrete layer beneath pavers, walkways, sheds, and hot tub pads distributes weight and helps the finished surface remain level. Compared with native clay, its coarse texture allows more water to pass through, reducing water held below the surface. Place sand or screenings as the bedding layer before setting pavers.

Fill & Backfill

Use crushed concrete as structural fill to bring up low ground, raise finished grade, or place behind retaining walls and around footings. The fractured aggregate interlocks when compacted, forming a firm fill that is less likely than soil fill to erode or become muddy.

Why Choose Crushed Concrete

Recycled Base Cost

Because it is recycled rather than quarried, crushed concrete generally has a lower per-ton cost than crushed stone base. At every order size, our price is below driveway gravel, a difference that can matter on long driveways and access roads.

Forms a Firm, Stable Layer

Angular particles and fines interlock when compacted with a roller or plate compactor. As the material settles, old cement paste can help the layer bind. The finished base is dense and helps limit shifting, rutting, and washouts.

Recycled and Responsible

Crushed concrete puts demolished material back into use instead of landfill disposal and lessens the need for newly quarried stone. It still provides the needed strength beneath a driveway or road.

Uses for Base and Fill

Crushed concrete can serve beneath driveways and parking areas, on access roads, under patios and sheds, and as general fill. One delivery can cover much of a project's initial ground preparation.
